Rev. Hiestand, a San Francisco native, came to know God as his advanced degrees in music led him initially to employment as a church musician. Sacred music awakened a spiritual calling and he and his wife Vivian eventually both earned their Master of Divinity degrees and have served God through music and ministry ever since. They have two sons, one grandson, and two dogs, Bam-Bam and Pippin.
Diane Ried is our new Family and Youth Ministry Director. Hailing from the south, Diane has a long history of working with children's programs, including Sunday schools, day schools, special needs programs, and after-school services. Diane has a special love for the little ones and works hard to teach them God's word every Sunday with Children's Moment and nursery/sunday school activities.
A published composer since the age of 14, Matthew oversees all music ministry and is director of our Chancel Choir and handbell choirs. He continues to compose and be a sought-after handbell director and tours regularly for national and international engagements, particularly as director of Bells of the Cascades. Matthew is also a valued member of Portland's Choral Arts Ensemble.
An experienced and sought-after performer and teacher, Allison began her ministry here in music, serving as the organist and accompanist. Her background in education and youth athletics allowed her to fall in step with youth ministry. She oversees middle school and high school activities, fellowship, and worship, as well as accompanies all services, choirs, and other musical groups.
Sue has the unique honor of serving Jesus at Salmon Creek Church for over 30 years. Her family has grown up in this church, and Sue and her husband continue to worship here. Sue's tenacity, organization, keen insight, compassion, and commitment to this church and congregation has kept it thriving over the decades. Her husband, Ron, a staple in the musical community as well.
Gayle has been directing our nonprofit faith-based preschool and daycare center for over nine years now. She pursues collaborative relationships that connect resources, ideas, curricula, learning opportunities and innovative art materials with instructors (and parents!). Gayle oversees the charter and direction of the dayschool and assists in the community-lauded Vocation Bible School held each summer.
