Our Pastor, Kim, was born in Hudson, Wisconsin as it was the closest hospital to her family’s home in nearby St. Paul, Minnesota. After moving yearly as a young child her family ended up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she grew up. After getting married, she and her spouse moved to Plano, near Dallas, Texas. Pastor Kim attended college there, graduating from the University of Texas in Dallas. Thereafter she attended and graduated from Perkins Seminary at Southern Methodist University also in Dallas, Texas.
Pastor Kim has had three appointments prior to coming to Salmon Creek, serving 15 years at her first appointment, St. Peter's UMC in Katy, Texas, mostly in the areas of pastoral care and worship. She served as lead pastor at The Woods UMC in Grand Prairie, Texas from July 2019 – February 2022. Pastor Kim then moved to the Great Northwest in 2022 with an assignment to Woodinville UMC in Woodinville, WA.
In Woodinville, she served a church which chose to disaffiliate from the UMC. She comments that serving such a church through that challenging time was difficult but she felt she was able to provide care and leadership alongside them during their change from a United Methodist to a community church.
Pastor Kim currently resides in a nearby Vancouver community with her spouse and two dogs. They have five grown children with three residing in nearby Portland…with their first grandchild! The other two live in Minneapolis, MN, along with their second grandson.
Even as she was initially drawn to the pastorate, Pastor Kim comments that she chose United Methodism because she “fell in love with John Wesley and his theology!”
After our time without a Pastor, we welcome Pastor Kim and wish her a long and fruitful ministry with us here at Salmon Creek!

Gayle comes from a long line of family members who were United Methodist ministers, with even a circuit rider who rode horseback from town to town back in the early 1800s. Gayle has been director of the Dayschool ministry since April, 2010. She has a BA in psychology and art from the University of Redlands (a familiar place because of her family going to the UMC annual conferences that are held there), hoping to continue studies to be an art therapist. She ended up working at an outdoor education camp after college and fell in love with teaching kids. She has worked in a variety of private and center-based childcare, over the span of almost thirty years, including a therapeutic classroom, where as a case manager, she worked with children and families that were at or below the poverty level. She gained a lot from that experience learning about families in poverty and the challenges and myths associated with that population. Gayle finished her graduate studies, receiving her Master of Arts degree in 2011 in Human Development, with specializations in Early Childhood Education and Leadership in Education and Human Services. Gayle loves to do anything creative/artistic, loves a good book or well-told story, movies, writing, kayaking, and camping. One of her favorite quotes is, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has,” by Margaret Mead.

After a ten-year break to raise her two babies, Tiffiney came to work with the children here at Salmon Creek. She’s a mother to an 11-year-old son and an eight-year-old daughter. Tiffiney has lived in Clark County the past 30 years, 20 of those years with her Husband Chris. Previously, she worked in sports treatment at both an acupuncture and chiropractic clinic. When her family formed, she retired from her medical career to stay home and raise her children. As her kids grew more independent, Tiffiney had a desire to return to work with the idea that it would be family-friendly. One day, she told her husband that she would love to find a position that wouldn’t detract from her family duties and would allow her to be available to raise their kids. The very next day, she found what she was looking for at Salmon Creek church and she knew that it was God guiding her. Tiffiney enjoys working with children and volunteering at her kids’ schools. In her spare time, she gardens, plays with her many pets (chickens, bunnies, cats, and a dog) and dreams of being an urban farmer. Her family loves to hike, bike, swim, and travel. She loves the PNW for all the wonderful opportunities it provides.
